This exhibition will showcase previously unreleased ‘GOYO(Serenity)’ works from the late artist's collection and provide an insight into the philosophical and aesthetic meanings embedded within these works pieces. Han Chungshik, who dedicated his life to deep exploration of Eastern philosophy, Korean spiritual aesthetics, and the foundation of Korean photographic art, aimed to complete the world of ‘GOYO(Serenity)’ based on the Buddhist world-view of “諸法不動本來寂(All things have no movement and are inherently quiet),” which signifies the inherent stillness of all things. The ‘The Emptiness Is Open’ exhibition is prepared based on records related to the artist's body of work. Lee Il-woo, the representative of KP Gallery, suggests that the legacy left by Han Chungshik carries significant implications for today's Korean photographic scene, which is dominated by contemporary art photography rooted in Western aesthetics.
